lose. If you and the dealer have the same total, it is a tie and the player is given back his bet (called a push).
Face cards count as 10. Aces count as 1 or 11 depending on your choice.
THE BET
Make a bet in the ante box.
THE DEAL
The dealer gives each player two cards. The dealer gets two cards, one face down and the other face up.
THE PLAY
If you have less than 21 and would like another card, ask or signal for a hit. You may hit until you're satisfied with your total. At that time, the dealer will reveal his total.
BLACKJACK TERMS
Doubling Down: If after the deal you feel you can win with the first two cards and only one more card, you may double your bet.
Splitting Pairs: If the first two cards you are dealt have the same value, you can split the two cards and play each hand individually. You must bet the same amount on the split hand as you did on the original hand. If your next card is of equal value to the first pair, you may split again. Splitting pairs may be done up to a total of four hands. Aces may be split only once. You may also "double down" on the first two cards of each hand after the split, except when splitting aces.
Insurance: If the dealer's up card is an Ace, you can take insurance. You're betting that the dealer's facedown card will be of ten-value. You may bet one-half of your original wager, but a winning insurance bet pays 2 to 1. If the dealer does not have a Blackjack, the insurance bet is taken and the game continues.
